Maribor adrenalin Guide - Light
...small little wonders in and around Maribor win again!
Pustolovski Park (Adventure park) {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Pustolovski Park is a mini adrenalin park in one of Maribor's best known city forests with most of activities going on several meters above the ground. There are 6 different routes according to your age and height:
All that is summed up into 55 different activities and 638 meters of different climbing routes so you can easily spend a whole day in there. Safety is the number one priority and the park is run by well trained instructors who are responsible for handing over safety equipment and keeping open eyes on all the participants. Humble entrance to the Pustolovski Park well hides its magnificent facilities.
{BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Careful preparations are very important for safe climbing...
{BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Everyone can enjoy and you don't need to be an adult... Our daughter on her first climbing adventure in the park.
{BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} ...but things do become scarier the higher you climb.
{BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} ...Oh, yes, that's me :)
{BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} My daughter was too scared the first time to do anything substantially above the ground but she was totally impressed and I'm looking forward to our next visit when she will be old enough to explore the heights of Pustolovski Park as you can easily spend hours there and it's fun for everyone.

Restaurant Pizzeria La Cantina {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} What a surprise that was a few years ago when we noticed this new pizzeria that replaced a 60's cable car bar. They've got a garden but a real treat comes with food. Pizza is superb and huge, pasta is wonderful and although this might seem a bit distant for a pizzeria, it is not. The place was full whenever we were there and you don't need to go back to the town to get a really great pizza and pasta. OPEN: Daily: 7am - midnight Cuisine: 10am - midnight Pohorska ulica 60, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 61 45 614 Restaurant Mezzanin {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} The hotel has a wonderful restaurant and the food is excellent. Milan has visited this hotel during one of the scientific conferences and has really enjoyed the stay. They are particularly known for their Pohorje omelet dessert. It is yummy and huge but worth absolutely every bite. OPEN: Monday - Friday: 7am - 11pm Saturday: 9am - 11pm Sunday and holidays: 9am - 10pm Slovenska ulica 11, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 25 02 179 Restaurant Pohorka {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Wow, we actually had a dinner for our wedding in this restaurant! Pohorka is a typical Slovenian restaurant but with really interesting culinary wonders from all over the world and long tradition. Food is really tasty and the restaurant has excellent reputation so no wonder then we went there. OPEN: Tuesday - Saturday: 11am - 11pm Restaurant Pizzeria Pomodoro {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} It's hard to tell with so many pizzerias in Maribor but in my humble opinion Pomodoro make one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The bar actually incorporates the kitchen so you can see your pizza being made and baked in the open-fire bread oven. The size, prices, ambient, everything is right but the taste is simply gorgeous. OPEN: Monday - Friday: 7am - 11pm Saturday: 9am - 11pm Sunday and holidays: 9am - 10pm Slovenska ulica 11, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 25 02 179 Restaurant Pri Lipi {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Three generations of restaurant owners and this is the first of their restaurants bearing the name of a 400 years old linden tree, one of Slovenia's oldest. They are infamous for their fried chicken. Forget about fast food, this is THE proper home made fried chicken and you get both, good food plus large quantities. OPEN: Tuesday - Saturday: 9am - 10pm
Snow Stadium {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Snow stadium is one of the centers of adrenalin activities in Maribor. We usually have to go there several times to fully explore all their facilities. There is Pohor JET coasting, Paintball, American Indian Village, trampoline and various other facilities that will make an afternoon truly awesome. On top of that, we often take a cable car to the top of Pohorje with breathtaking views of Maribor and surrounding vineyards. Mini JET and various other activities are popular among children and adults... {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} ...half a mile long Pohor JET coaster on the other hand is pure adrenalin e. {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} POHOR JET TICKETS (8% discount for families with 4 or more individuals): Adults: $7.5 (1 ride), $19 (3 rides), $30.2 (5 rides) Children (up to 14 years): $6 (1 ride), $15.2 (3 rides), $24.2 (5 rides) PAINTBALL TICKETS (suitable for children from 15 years): $28 per person $24.5 per person (more than 10 people in a group) $22 per person (more than 25 people in a group) CONTACT (Pohor JET and Paintball): Ms Mojca Marko (Paintball by arrangement only) Tel: +386 (0)2 220 88 43 Pohorje cable car {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} The infamous Vzpenjaca cable car is awesome. The thrill of being 300 feet in the air with a view over Maribor with its surrounding hills that can hardly be matched is fantastic. I can't count the number of times I've been on Vzpenjaca. This 15 minute ride is really worth it. However, my poor daughter was really scared! She didn't anticipate to be suddenly above the tree tops. Well, she was only 4 at the time so I wasn't really surprised but she did eventually enjoy the magnificent views. My daughter was really scared when the cabin started moving and it was still some 15 minutes left. {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Cabins just before reaching the upper station. {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} CABLE CAR TICKETS: OPERATING: American Indian Village {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} I didn't know about it and then I suddenly noticed an interesting looking camp just a couple of hundred meters from the Snow stadium. I asked some of my friends and they told me it is an American Indian Village "Eagle's nest" where kids can spend the whole afternoon learning archery, riding but they also organize animated programs, picnics, birthday parties and it all looks pretty realistic to me. AMERICAN INDIAN VILLAGE TICKETS: Tour of the camp: $3.8 (20 minutes) Riding (3 circles): $3.80 Archery (10 arrows): $3.80 Rent-a-village (3 hours, up to 20 people, animation, games, etc.): $75 Rent-a-village (6 hours, up to 20 people, animation, games, etc.): $128 Rent-a-village (3 hours, more than 20 people, animation, games, etc.): $128 Rent-a-village (6 hours, more than 20 people, animation, games, etc.): $225 Kids birthday parties (per child including food, drinks and animation, 2h): $14.3 OPEN: Monday - Friday: 4pm - 7pm Saturday and Sunday: 11am - 7pm Tel: +386 (0)41 322 166 (Ms Gabriela Krope)
Restaurant Rozmarin {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Absolutely fantastic new chic Maribor restaurant. We were really impressed by the quality of food, creativity, wittiness and refinement of their bartenders. In addition their award winning interior, a coffee bar and a wine cellar will make your lunch/dinner here truly wonderful. My personal opinion is that this is the best restaurant in Maribor's city center. OPEN: Monday - Saturday: 9am - 10pm Sunday and holidays: CLOSED Gosposka ulica 8, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 23 43 180 Restaurant Stajerc {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Traditional Maribor and Stajerska cuisine, wonderful beer from their mini brewery, pretzels and huge terrace overlooking the busiest part of the pedestrian zone are the marbles of this restaurant. It's difficult to miss the place as it has such a central and wonderful location but their food is good and we are regular customers. OPEN: Monday - Thursday: 10am - 10pm Friday - Saturday: 10am - midnight Sunday and holidays: closed Vetrinjska 30, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 23 44 234 Restaurant Toti Rotovz {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} This is a wonderful restaurant with Slovenian, Serbian, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Greek and Italian cuisine so they certainly can satisfy a variety of tastes. We were lunching and dinning in this restaurant and the experience was always good. Dinner in their wine cellar is particularly attractive due to the ambient and live music during weekends. OPEN: Monday - Saturday: 9am - midnight wine cellar: Monday - Saturday: 9am - 2am Sunday: CLOSED Rotovski trg 9, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 22 87 650 Cantante {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Cantante is a Cuban style cafe/cocktail bar mix that gets really alive in the evening. The bar also hosts one of the live music stages during the Lent festival. It is located in the basement of Vetrinjska ulica and Tkalski prehod corner house. It has several levels and is nicely decorated. There are two gardens, one overlooking the street and one in the back yard. Their 150+ different cocktails are absolutely fabulous and Milan is particularly keen in trying them out all. He hasn't managed yet but so far he is mightily impressed! OPEN: Monday - Thursday: 8am -1am Friday and Saturday: 8am -3am Sunday: 8am -1am Vetrinjska ulica 5, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 252 53 12 Jazz Club Satchmo {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Although this is Maribor's only proper Jazz club it is something we rarely miss out. It is located in the basement of the Maribor Art Gallery and is a venue for many often world-class Jazz and Soul concerts. Some of the best nights out I had were in Satchmo! It is the right kind of feeling that makes this place so special and bartenders contribute to this feeling a lot. I haven't found many places that would have such a soul as Satchmo. OPEN: Monday - Thursday: 9am - 2am Friday: 9am - 3am Saturday: 7pm - 3am Sunday: 7pm - midnight Strossmayerjeva ulica 6, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 25 02 150 KGB {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Infamous name but this is actually an acronym for Cultural Musical Den (Kulturno Glasbeni Brlog). This is one of the most unique bars in Maribor. It is a theater-bar mixture with a very distinctive character. There is music, fun, theater performances and more, just simply great! People don't come to this bar just for a drink, this is a place for events, to have fun and whenever we go there it is a whole night out business. Maribor really is blessed to have these wonderful bars with character. OPEN: Monday - Sunday: 7pm - 3am Vojasniski trg 5, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 25 23 077 Patrick's J&B Pub {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} This is probably the only proper Irish pub in Maribor. It's location among cafes in the Postna street is fantastic. The street itself is part of the pedestrian zone and stretches from the Cathedral in the north to the Main Square in the south. They serve a variety of different beers but Guinness is excellent and so are the parties. Of course, as it could be expected, they host an annual St.Patrick's day party - wild! OPEN: Monday - Thursday: 8am -midnight Friday and Saturday: 8am -2am Sunday: 4pm -11pm Postna ulica 10, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 25 11 801 Samsara {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} Samsara is a huge place that shares the building with KOLOSEJ, one of Maribor's largest multi cinema centers. Samsara is an Italian restaurant, pizzeria, cafe, cocktail bar and a night club all in one. The interior is distinctively modern and the cafe-bar is overlooking river Drava so it is ideal for warm summer nights where going for a drink can easily be extended onto a dance floor till the early morning hours. OPEN: Tuesday - Saturday: 11am -4am Sunday and Monday: 11am - 10pm Loska ulica 13, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 23 42 350 Tako's Lent {BACK TO GUIDE - Maribor adrenalin guide} This is the first Tako's bar-restaurant (the second is in Europark shopping mall). Because it is located in the oldest part of the city the interior looks more like a wine cellar but its distinguished décor quickly reveals Mexican charm of this wonderful bar. The nights here are often spent with dancing and music is fantastic. Most of foreign visitors end up in Tako's in the evening! On top of that they serve excellent food and the best white coffee in town (it reminds of cappuccino and cafe late at the same time). OPEN: Monday - Thursday: 11am -midnight Friday: 11am -2am Saturday: 12pm - 2am Sunday: CLOSED Holidays: 12pm - 5pm Mesarski Prehod 3, Maribor Tel: + 386 (0)2 25 27 150 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
